The Worst Thing Trump Did on 3/29/25

Trump's war on the arts and museums (also known as stifling freedom of speech) continues as he's now taking control of the narratives of exhibits and displays at the Smithsonian Museum system.

He's attacking them, saying they've become bastions of anti-American wokeness and DEI agendas. His argument boils down to this:  'Unless it's told the way I want it told, then it's anti-American.'

The focus of his hatred seems to be two museums in particular.  The Smithsonian Museum of African American History is a target because he feels the Black population of the country hasn't really said thank you enough to the white population of America.  I'm paraphrasing, but that's pretty much it.  He feels a museum dedicated to the history of Black America needs to begin with a display where Black America says, "Thanks, white people!"

The yet unopened Smithsonian Museum of Women is a similar argument, although he is wrapping that argument in his anti-trans bigotry. The underlying vibe Trump is giving off seems to be arguing, "You chicks need to say thank you to the men for allowing you to have your little museum," and that Vance will demand a majority of the museum be dedicated to the virtues of being a doting housewife, barefoot and pregnant, getting the hubby a beer when he needs it.

This is some serious third-world dictator crap; rewriting reality to meet the 'great leaders' demands.

Quick side story. Allegedly in 2017 when Trump visited the African American Museum, and saw a display on Dutch involvement in the global slave trade, Trump's comment was"You know, they love me in the Netherlands."

So be prepared for their new exhibit, 'Dutch Slave Traders! Their descendants LOVE me!'
