Brain Worm Magee is at it again, as HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced his plan to deal with the ever-expanding H5N1 avian flu crisis in the US: 'Let her rip!'

His plan is to let the avian flu run rampant, killing all the birds WITHOUT CULLING THE FLOCKS so that the one or two chickens who manage to survive can be pulled aside to rebuild the chicken population.  Seriously, this is insanity!

Avian flu kills between 90 and 100% of chickens in 3 to 4 days (you read that right!)! The only way you can prevent it from running rampant is by culling the infected flocks. Genetic resistance in chickens and turkeys is not a thing.  It doesn't exist.  And it might take 50 years for chickens to naturally build up an immunity.  Avian flu is a great example of why certain animals die off.  Kennedy thinks species can mutate like the X-Men. 

This strategy will make the current price of a dozen eggs seem like a bargain, and you can forget about any chicken you can buy in the store or at a restaurant.  KFC, Chick-fil-A, and Popeyes would all fold and chicken would become next to impossible to find for less than $50 in a grocery store. Some would insist it's fine to eat the meat/eggs from infected birds but would you want to risk eating it?

And then we need to talk about the rate at which H5N1 is moving into other animals.  This Avian Flu EVERYWHERE approach would lead to the expansion of Avian Flu into all livestock, likely wiping out those markets as well.  Beff, Pork, and Lamb would all face similar die-offs and price explosions.  Milk and other dairy-related products would also be yanked off the shelves. And considering cats and dogs are susceptible to Avian flu, they'll also see massive die-offs.

Then there is the human problem.  Humans are starting to get Avian Flu from the livestock they are working with. The virus is only one or two adaptions away from becoming a human-to-human virus.  The US not culling the birds would lead to a rapid expansion of the disease in contact with every human being.  In humans, the death rate is 20-25%. It will make the COVID epidemic seem quaint. 

Kennedy is an ignorant fool who is willing to kill all of us for his theories (which he'll NEVER admit were wrong).
