The Worst Thing Trump Did on 3/1/25

Trump was pretty quiet yesterday, a sign his team knows he crapped the foreign relations bed on Friday.

There was a rumor that Trump met with the disgusting Andrew Tate after Trump lobbied the Romanians to return Tate to the US.  That might be true, but so far, I have not seen a confirmation.

Let's go with Trump saying he will posthumously pardon Pete Rose, the baseball great who, when he was a manager for the Cincinnati Reds, bet on his team, as he admitted in 2007, "almost every night." Trump was clearly trying to take his disastrous Oval Office implosion off the front page, but Rose's ban was for VERY legit reasons.

Trump is trying to argue that even though the league VERY CLEARLY says you can not bet on baseball as a manager, regardless of the bet, since Rose only bet on his team to win, he really didn't deserve the suspension.  Two problems with this. 1) The Dowd report, which was sanctioned to look into Rose's betting, argued it was likely Rose did indeed bet on his team to lose, something bolstered by boneheaded managerial decisions in a few games that cost the Reds the win. 2) Even if he only bet on his team to win, he violated the integrity of the game itself by placing his bets above what was best for the team.

Major League Baseball banned Rose for life because, like the 1919 Chicago White Sox scandal, the crime threatened the integrity of the game itself, turning baseball more into professional wrestling than a sport where there was an unknown outcome.

But once again, this was Trump just blurting out ANYTHING to try to get his disastrous Friday off the front page.
