The Answer is 'May 4th, 2017,' but more on that in a second.
A few weeks ago, I happened to be at a get together for a friend's business. I knew many of the people there, so it was fun rubbing elbows. As I was being social, I saw a friend of mine, Mary. Mary was a 'Bernie or Bust' Democrat, but to be fair, I don't think she was ever too much of a Democrat prior to Bernie running in 2016. She was one of those people who, when Hillary Clinton won the Democratic Nomination, was part of the non-stop, spitting out of social media posts about how "Hillary was no better than Trump," how we were all fools for supporting "the lesser of two evils," and how "there's no difference between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party!" Some of these people went as far as to hope the country would fail and burn, feeling like they'd be able to rebuild American in their own image afterwards.
I said "hi" to Mary, and within a minute, Mary was ranting about how the Democrats were "so stupid" because they nominated the "worst candidate ever." Acknowledging the loss in November stung, I took exception to her comments, pointing out 1) Hillary Clinton did win the popular vote for President by a substantial three million votes and 2) the Russians clearly seemed to have steered this country towards a Trump victory. She angrily snapped at me about how the popular vote didn't matter(?), as Clinton knew the Electoral College rules prior to the election, and how she would've been just as bad as Trump. She added the Democrats are as worthless as the Republicans.
Okay, okay...put down the drink. At this point, NO ONE should think Hillary Clinton, even with the made up and inflated flaws falsely attached to her, would be anywhere near as horrific a President as Trump has been, something myself and numerous other people were screaming at the top of our lungs last Autumn to deaf ears being manipulated by Helga and Igor in Moscow. You're saying you predicted Hillary Clinton would dominate the popular vote but somehow, due to a 100,000 votes in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, would lose the quirkiest of Electoral College matches ever? REALLY??? I guess you cleaned up at the Kentucky Derby by using your amazing ability to pick the entire finishing lineup correctly!
Anti-Hillary Democrats, and Anti-Democrat leftists, you got played, and you know it! Either the Russians tricked you into repeating the laughable comparisons 'Hillary was no better than Trump'/'the Democrats are no better than the Republicans,' or they convinced you to sit this last election out, cowering as you threw yourself a pity party because the person you wanted wasn't the nominee. When the election happened, you all sat dumbfounded the next day, realizing you were part of the problem, not part of the solution. You looked in the mirror, but instead of saying "wow did I screw up," you engaged in what I consider to be the central character flaw of most Americans today, blaming others for your own mistakes. "It wasn't me! Hillary was the WORST CANDIDATE EVER!"
Let me see if I can clear up your perspective by using a automobile analogy. Your first choice for 2016 was a sensible, hyper-practical minivan, which ran fine, was dependable, wasn't the most glamorous car, and although it did have some minor downsides, and wasn't most people's top choice, it still worked fine. Your other option was a 1984 Chevy Citation hatchback, missing one of it's doors, was visibly held together by duct tape, had pizza boxes for windows, was missing a seat, the floor was gone because it had rusted out, the engine didn't work for more than five seconds at a time, and it had four different size tires on it.
You guys helped push the country towards the Chevy. As it started to roll off the lot, the entire car completely imploded, falling apart like the car at the end of The Blues Brothers. At that point, with denial and determination running hot in your veins, you looked at the pile of Citation remains and screamed "why was the mini-van such a bad choice."
On behalf of all Americans picking up the pieces of your ignorance, will you please just shut the F up!
If I also may address the "let the world burn lefties," who wanted Tump to win because you thought the country would fail, allowing you and your far leftist friends to march arm and arm into a new Constitutional Convention, to rewrite the Constitution in the image of a Social Democratic platform; you can now officially shut up too. It's bad enough you gleefully rooted for millions of people to get hurt so you could achieve a potential political victory, and it's cute how you think the right wouldn't be showing up at the same Constitutional Convention with guns and bats to keep you all out while they rewrite the Constitution in their image, but you clearly don't understand the stability of the US Government. We're all going hurt, that's undeniable, but the federal government was designed to bend, and not break. It's why it's succeeded for a few centuries. When Trump is finished, the USA will continue to march on. Doesn't mean it's going to be pretty trip, it just means your dreams of creating a leftist utopia are going to require hard work at the ballot boxes, not some quick end around fix, praying you and one of your friends are still standing when the last 3 US citizens are left.
For the record, I'm not a huge Hillary fan. I really was torn on who to vote for in the Democratic caucus, but I had no question on who I was going to vote for when the fate of millions of Americans was on the line. I used my own brain, and didn't let myself get controlled by foreign entries and corrupt political parties with an evil agenda. And no, this isn't a screed about embracing a moderate Republican mentality as the new Democratic Party platform, pushing aside equity and equal rights, pushing aside minority and lower class issues, and allowing 'a little racism' into the Democratic Party in a futile attempt to win over five Trump voters who don't happen to hate the Democrats more than they love America. That mentality is dumber than anyone who still claims Hillary would've been "far worse" than Trump.
For comparison, I could point to Trump's inept military policy, economic policy, his twitter temper tantrums, how compromised he's become to his business 'partners,' the trade wars he'll start, the military conflicts his ego will get us into, the polluting and victimizing of the environment for corporate profits, the mistreatment of immigrants, the religious war he's championing, the numerous outright racists in his Administration, his misogyny, his unbridled nepotism, his war with the courts, his undeniable profiteering, or the way he treats the job of being President of the United States of America like it was a 10-2 executive position at a company with his family's name on the building. All of these are spot on examples of how much worse Trump has been than Clinton would've EVER been, but my answer is simply 'May 4th, 2017.' On that day, Trump, controlling the Republicans in the US House, managed to get a health care bill passed, a bill which will kill millions, will make health care a luxury item like an Italian sports car, and will bankrupt tens of millions of people who only want their family to be able to see a doctor if they get sick. On that day, Trump screwed over EVERY American who isn't wealthy; tea party conservative and Bernie supporter alike. We're all going to suffer, and no...
Hillary Clinton would've NEVER allowed that to happen. You're anti-Hillary argument is officially defeated.
Lefties who are still railing against Clinton, own your mistake! You got played. It's very likely enough 'angry' Democrats in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan cost her the election, and have sent the United States into a darkest time in our country's history. If you don't accept what really happened, and your role in it, you're destined to get played again in 2018 and 2020. If the next few elections go the same way 2016 did, then we will start testing the limits of our government's ability to bend and not break.
