The Friday Link for 9/2/22

This week we jump back into John Oliver's world.  He still is unbelievably talented at making up insanely funny bits, mocking the culture of today, but also conveying serious topics, topics in which he's 1000% correct in highlighting.  He covers a lot of stories no one else will and in turn ends up bringing serious issues affecting a lot of people to the forefront.

This week though, it's not so much serious, but rather hilarious. John talks about Artificial Intelligence (AI) images, websites that allow you to type in a request and the AI will try its best to produce the picture to match your requests. It's as fun as it sounds.

John Oliver made a fateful discovery poking around on one site, and well...watch for yourself.  Once again, harsh language.  You've been warned!

Next up is a question.  How in the world is this movie not getting released in a movie theater?  The movie is 'Weird:  The Al Yankovic Story,' starring Daniel Radcliffe and it looks spectacular!

Now, I do know sometimes you get all the best scenes in a movie trailer and that might be the case here, but Radcliffe is a pretty good actor, and he seems to play the fictional interpretation of Al perfectly.  And Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento! Sweet Lord!

This movie looks outstanding, but it seems the only place you will be able to see it is Roku.

Watch the trailer and hope this movie delivers like the trailer implies it will.

Also tonight is a look at Julia Child's cooking.  Back in 2009, the movie 'Julie & Julia' was released, talking about the story of Julia Child and the blogger, Julie Powell, who vowed to cook all the recipes in Child's first cookbook.

The YouTube Channel Anti-Chef also seems to be taking on numerous Julia Child recipes, some with success and some not so much.  I was searching for hamburger recipes a few weeks ago, and since I like cooking videos, this video came up as a suggestion. It's a good watch, and Jamie is one of the more realistic chefs I've seen.  I'm now subscribed.

Plus Julia Child's Hamburger recipe looks wonderful (mushrooms aren't bad either).

I agree with Jamie.  I would love to try this as a traditional US hamburger.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Be safe, get vaccinated and boosted, and get the new boost when available.  Wear a mask in crowded locations and all my best.
