For the record, I want to highlight this came from a person who claims their Christianity is sacred to them, and the driving force in their lives. I'll come back to that.
The first thing I want to point out is there's no way Trump could solve this puzzle. He's REALLY stupid! I'm talking about THIS guy, staring into a solar eclipse:
Or this guy, fidgeting like a 5 year old during the National Anthem last Sunday:
Or the guy who had to be told, on Monday, one of the major cities he's been President of for over three years is actually not in Kansas, but rather Missouri:
Or the guy who took a sharpie to the weather map to make the weather forecast match his ignorance:
Or the guy behind any of these tweets!:
On that last one, he misspelled his own wife's name!!! His answer would be 'STOLL YUPR HAMBERDER,' and all you on the Right would say "100% correct!"
Republicans, and in particular Christian Conservatives, I know facts don't matter to you. For goodness sake, the final argument of the Trump team's lawyers was [paraphrasing] "yes he did it all, but he has the right to do so because he's President, and the only way you can punish him is to vote him out of office, in an election he is desperately trying to undermine.'
I won't try to educate you Republicans, because that's pointless. What I will say is you clearly are purposely ignoring a crime you would gladly (and justifiably) remove a Democratic President for. Your endorsement of Trump's behavior at this point shows us all the undeniable; You have placed Trump and political party over Country.
But one thing happened yesterday the Right wasn't anticipating. Senator Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP candidate for president, voted to throw Trump out of office for Abuse of Power. If you watch Romney's Speech on his vote, you hear him talk about swearing an oath on the Bible, something he does not do lightly. He decided he had to put his party aside and listen to the facts during the trial. He did. He found the House leader's arguments based in fact and reality, and he proceeded to knock down each of the Trump team's defenses with steadfast conviction.
Romney's point was this: "I'm a deeply religious man, and my Christianity isn't lip service. I don't swear on a Bible just willy nilly. In turn, when I followed my Christian principles, it was undeniable Trump should be removed from office."
Romney this morning was attacked by multiple right wing personalities, all claiming it was inappropriate for a Republican to bring their religion into their decision making. Let that sink in for a second...the same party who thrusts their Bible's in everyone's faces, screaming about how much they love Jesus, and how Jesus guides them on ALL decisions, now insists Christianity shouldn't be considered when you swear on a Bible!
It's at this point, before Christian Conservatives insist swearing on the Bible isn't a big deal to them, I want to remind them they've been screaming for years how Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar, by swearing into office on a Koran instead of a Bible, had 'sworn allegiance to Allah over the US of A!' EVERY ONE OF YOU POSTED THAT MEME, SO SHUT UP!
What Romney exposed is far more damning for all you Republicans who claim to be Christian. Fifty three Republican Senators swore on the Bible, supposedly a sacred text for them, promising to be fair and impartial jurors for the Senate Trial of Trump, and ONLY ONE OF THEM WAS BEING HONEST. As Republican Mitt Romney pointed out, if you truly did support your Biblical Oath to be impartial, how else could you come up with anything but a guilty verdict? He said there was tremendous pressure on him from other Republicans who'd sworn on the Bible to 'take one for the team,' meaning to pick the Republican Party over their Christianity. Only one Republican put their religious standards over their political party. All you Republican voters who support this outcome are in turn applauding the desecration of your own sacred text, while dismissing the importance of the Bible as nothing more than something you give lip service.
In other words, YOU have placed Trump over Jesus and God!!!
Yes you did(!), but this is by no means the first time you've done so. You applaud the Trump Administration starving the hungry, kicking people out of their homes and onto the streets, denying the sick medical care, ALL VIOLATIONS OF JESUS' TEACHINGS! And when it comes to Jesus' command to welcome in strangers in strange lands, you've instead applauded the locking up of those strangers, ripping kids away from parents, keeping people in cages, starving them, not giving them health care, doing nothing as thousands of children have been sexually assaulted in these concentration camps, and dozens have died in custody. And the ones you've turned away are being killed. Near 70% of all Salvadorans returned to El Salvador, turned away after trying to seek refuge in the USA, were murdered upon their forced return. You've already sold you souls following your golden cow.
I know, "But...but...but...BABIES!" You're not even consistent with the one thing you've sold out your faith for. YOU sure enjoy treating those babies as sub-human whenever you get the chance. I told the same Conservative Christian (who had posted the initial meme in this post) in late 2016, after he swore Trump and the GOP House and Senate would soon make all abortion illegal in the USA, that the Republican Party would NEVER do so. They need you idiots to keep fighting for them, so they will never make abortion illegal. The number of anti-Abortion amendments introduced by Republicans in 2017 and 2018: ZERO(!), the same number they had introduced the other two times they had complete control of the government over the last 20 years.
So Christian Conservatives, wrap yourself in the tatters of your religious faith and keep pretending we don't see you for the frauds you really are. No matter what you say here are the facts:
- Trump will always be Impeached
- For the first time in history, a bipartisan vote wanted to remove a President from office
- And Jesus would have voted to remove him from office too
