The Friday Link for 9/15/17

Can we make a deal?  Instead of releasing another Fast and Furious movie, can we just piece together all the CinemaSins episodes dismantling the franchise and release that into the theaters?  I swear it would win a freaking Oscar!

If you've not heard me praise the CinemaSins folks, they release You Tube videos under the title "Everything Wrong With..."  They take a movie and break down the mistakes in acting, script, cinematography and the over the top elements many of these movies feature, awarding 'sins' for every violation.  It's a great dynamic to view a movie through.

I know some people will be saying "aren't movies escapism?" Yes they are, but one of the things CinemaSins points out is how we've become overwhelmed with special effect ladened, over the top stunt riddled, unnecessary outrageous movies.  These movies are really bad, many times leaving unforgivable glaring script and plot holes, mistakes movie companies hope get ignored by the glitziness of the package.

They do breakdown critically acclaimed movies, finding positives and negatives, but CinemaSin's method is perfect for Michael Bay-esque schmaltz.  Frankly, it's the only way to watch some of these movies.

Which brings us to their masterwork, the Fast and the Furious movie franchise.  Sure there's low hanging fruit they effectively swing at, but it's towards the end of their insanely hilarious takedown of 'Fast & Furious 6,' where they earned their stripes.  The narrator says an amazingly insightful statement about the popularity of these films, and their impact on the movie industry as a whole; "The acceptance of s*!t like this is why we can't have good movies."

A-freaking-MEN!

I really encourage you to watch all of the Fast and Furious riffs they do, but everything on their page is entertaining:  https://www.youtube.com/user/CinemaSins/featured

Without further ado, The Friday Link for today is "Everything Wrong With The Fate of The Furious." Some rougher language, but it's all bleeped.  You will laugh!  Enjoy!

Have a great weekend everyone!
