The Worst Thing Trump Did on 5/31/25

It is no secret that the white supremacist element in the White House, mainly White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Racist Fredo himself, Stephen Miller, is very upset that more brown skinned people have not been rounded up and shipped out of the country.

My guess? When Trump announced his racist roundup, there were some special precautions made to prevent certain areas from being raided.  While Los Angeles, NYC, and Chicago were fair game, some metro areas (like Las Vegas) and a lot of the rural corporate farm strongholds were initially exempt from the ICE Gestapo's roundup list.  This was due to large GOP donors saying, "Hey, your round-up of migrants is fine in Liberal areas, but we need those workers here, so we expect some guarantees we won't be raided."

It seems like any hypothetical agreement is out the door, as Racism will always win within the Trump Administration.

There is a new list of "100 Sanctuary Jurisdictions" from the Department of Homeland Security, which not only includes the Right Wing's usual liberal metro area punching bags, but also includes Las Vegas, Huntington Beach, California, and Athens, Georgia.  And the list includes rural counties, with many of those counties being the location of meat processing facilities, large agriculture regional hubs, large dairy operations, or counties with a large corporate farm presence.  In those regions, undocumented workers are generally the only people willing to do the hard work for the wages they receive.

There are a lot of Republicans currently freaking out, with good reason.  A study in Wisconsin showed that if raids happened in Chicago, the ripple effect would hit hundreds of miles from the roundup zone, costing local agricultural operations up to a third of their workers, as the workers run in fear.  Now that these raids are happening in rural America, with local county sheriffs (eager to try to impress Trump with their loyalty) taking on the role of 'local ICE agents,' the economic impacts on the Ag sector and Republican strongholds will be massive.
